Loudness Chart Menu

This menu page is used to configure the Loudness Chart instrument. This instrument is only available, if the Logging Data Server licence (SW20014) has been activated, or the unit is a TMR7-Radio or TMR7-Mount.

In the upper section, the Loudness Chart displays the quality (e. g. exceedings) of the relevant loudness values TP, M, S, and I on horizontal bars with individual definable colors. In the lower section, the progress of a measurement (value over time) can be displayed on a coordinate system with up to four graphs. Therefore, different display options are available. A dynamic line shows the position of the Relative Gate, and an additional bargraph for the display of the current I loudness value can be switched. If only one value is displayed, the tolerance range can additionally be displayed as a kind of corridor.

The setting functions for the coordinate system and analysis of the graphs are controlled with the keys that will be available in the instrument's and the local Control Bar and have been defined for the global keyboard.

If the Timecode Reader licence is available on the unit (SW20008, not for TMR7-Radio and TMR7-Mount) and if an own audio group is running in Timecode mode, the loudness measurement can also be controlled via timecode including the option of recalculation.

Please note:
The Chart instrument cannot be used with the Radar instrument in parallel in the same audio group.

Please note:
When controlling the loudness measurement by the use of a timecode with recalculation activated, loudness data cannot be logged at the same time.

Please note:
On TMR7-Radio and TMR7-Mount some functions are limited or not available.

Timeline Bar section

• Active Bars
This key is used to select the loudness summing value to be displayed as horizontal bars in the upper section of the Loudness Chart instrument.

These bars are not of the typical dynamic bargraph type displaying the current value on a scale. In fact, they are horizontal running bar displays with changing colors indicating in which range the measured value moves. The change of the normal bar color (e. g. cyan) to e. g. green means, that the loudness value has moved from normal display into the operation range. Correspondently, a change into the headroom resp. Over range will be displayed with colors as defined in the next option. So the common quality of a measurement can be evaluated at a glance.

Options:

all active | TP | M | S | I

Default value:

TP, S

• Colors
This key is used to select the colors for the individual sections of each Loudness Chart bargraph. After "On" was selected for the "All track TP" option, the color settings of the "TP" channel are used for the "M", "S", and "I" bargraphs as well. These color settings are also used for every chart graph display mode with filling. The display can be defined using the keys of the "Graph Settings" option (see "Chart section").

TP Over

Color of the TP bar when exceeding the requirements for the Over display.

Invalid

Color of the M, S, and I bars, if no valid data is available

Headroom

Color of the TP bargraph area above "Operation Range" area, defined by "TP Headroom" parameter

Over

Color of the M, S, and I bars when exceeding the "Operation Range" resp. "Tolerance Range" area

Operation (Range)

Color of the bargraph area between "Normal" and "Headroom" (TP) resp. "Over" (M, S, I) areas, defined by "TP Operation" resp. "M High", "M Low", "S High", "S Low", "I High", and "I Low" parameters

Normal:

Color of the bargraph area below "Operation (Range)" area

Options:

32 colors for each bargraph section

• Graph Settings
This key is used to select and to configure the graphs for the loudness values TP, M, S, and I to be drawn as graph on a coordinate system (measured value over time) in parallel to the horizontal bars in the lower section of the Loudness Chart instrument.

Touching the "Graph Settings" key initially activates further keys in the upper right section of the menu representing the loudness values showing the current setting for the display on the coordinate system. Touching one of these keys adds the display setting options in the lower right section of the menu.

The "Rectangular", "Rectangular + Over", "Line", or "Dots" options may individually be set to each value.

If selecting the "Rectangular Fill" or "Linear Fill" options, only a graph of one value will be drawn on the coordinate system because of the color-filled graph aeras. Therefore, all other values will automatically be set to "Graph Off", and its keys will be deactivated. Selecting an option without filling will activate every key again.

Options:

for TP, M, S, and I each:
Rectangular | Rectangular + Over| Line | Dots | Rectangular Fill | Linear Fill | Graph Off

Default value:

for TP, M, and I each: Graph Off
for S: Linear Fill

Please note :
On TMR7-Radio and TMR7-Mount, only one value can be selected at a time. The corresponding graph is always been displayed with linear filling.

• Colors
This key is used to select the colors for every display of the loudness values as graph as well as for the Tolerance Indicator and the position of the Relative Gate.

TP:

Color for TP bargraph on the coordinate system and the labelling of the horizontal TP bar

M:

Color for M bargraph on the coordinate system and the labelling of the horizontal M bar

S:

Color for S bargraph on the coordinate system and the labelling of the horizontal S bar

I:

Color for I bargraph on the coordinate system and the labelling of the horizontal I bar

Tolerance Indicator:

Color for the tolerance range being displayed as a line or as a kind of corridor in the single view of the graphs. The values for the tolerance range can be set in the "Tolerance Levels" section below.

Relative Gate:

Color for the dynamic horizontal line on the coordinate system showing the current position of the Relative Gate relating to the I value

Options:

32 colors for each bargraph section

Please note:
These color settings are used for all kinds of display without filling being set with the keys of the "Graph Settings" option (see before). Displays with filling always use the color settings of the active bargraphs as defined in the "Timeline Bar" section.

• Tolerance Indicator
This key is only available, if only one value is selected as active graph. It is used to set the tolerance indicator to be displayed as a line or a filled corridor. If more than one value is selected, this key is greyed and without function (it displays the last used option).

Options:

Off | Line | Fill

Default value:

Off

Please note:
When selecting the color of the Tolerance Indicator (see above), we suggest to use a strong color for the line type display and a muted color for the filled corridor type display in order to have a good reading.

• Relative Gate
This key is used to activate or to deactivate the display of the position of the Relative Gate. A dynamic horizontal doubled line with the preassigned color appears on the coordinate system moving up and down the scale in relation to the measured loudness values. The displayed position is always related to the I value, even if I is not displayed as Timeline Bar and Chart graph. It is useful to evaluate e. g. the influence of the course of the M value for the calculation of the I value.

Options:

on | off

Default value:

on

• Integrated Bar
This key is used to activate or to deactivate the additional vertical display of the Intergrated Bargraph left beside the coordinate system.

Options:

on | off

Default value:

on

• TP Scale
This key is only available, if the TP value is defined as an active graph. It is used to select the favored True Peak scale for display on the coordinate system.

Options:

TP60: +3..-60 dB | TP20: +3..-20 dB

Default value:

TP60: +3..-60 dB
