LRA Menu

This menu page is used to configure the LRA (Loudness Range) instrument. This instrument is available after one of the loudness modes has been selected for the current audio group. It displays a graphical representation of the loudness variances within short time periods. These are measured against the Loudness Range (LRA) descriptor specified in EBU R128. Also, the integrated overall loudness (I) can be shown along with the LRA measurement. The LRA parameter allows for making assumptions on whether the program has seen or requires dynamic processing with regard to the intended distribution path.

• Scale Range
This key is used to select the spread of the LRA instrument scale.

Options:

6 LU | 10 LU | 20 LU | 30 LU

Default value:

10 LU

• Mode
This key is used to select one of four modes available for the LRA instrument. The "LRA Bar" mode displays the LRA measurement on a bargraph meter with the zero value at the bottom (vertical instrument) or left (horizontal instrument). The "MagicLRA" mode uses a scale with a fixed centered zero position (corresponding to the target level) where the LRA bar spreads symmetrically from the 0 position and it's length is a measure for the absolute LRA value. "MagicLRA + I" mode is a combination of LRA and Integrated (I) loudness measurements. The LRA bar has a moving, relative zero position that is anchored to the "Integrated" value measured. The "MagicLRA + I + Num" mode adds a numerical display of the measured LRA value inserted to the LRA bargraph.

Options:

LRA Bar | MagicLRA | MagicLRA + I | MagicLRA + I + Num

Default value:

LRA Bar

• Bar Style
This key is used to select the display style for the LRA bargraph.

Options:

solid | segment

Default value:

solid

Ranges section

• Color Assignment
This key is used to select the color mode for the LRA bargraph. In "Individual" mode, an individual color can be assigned to each of the three LRA bar sections (LRA low range, comfort zone, LRA high range). In "Blend" mode, a continuous color scheme for the three sections is derived automatically from a single basic color entered by the user. In "Swap" mode, the whole LRA bar changes its color when the measured LRA value exceeds the limits for the bargraph sections entered with the "LRA Low Range" and "Comfort Zone" parameters (see below).

Options:

Individual| Blend | Swap

Default value:

Blend

• Colors
This key is used to select the colors for the individual sections of the LRA bargraph.

Options:

32 colors for each bargraph section

• LRA Low Range
This key is used to select the spread of the LRA bar's LRA low range.

Options:

0 LU to 10 LU in steps of 0.5 LU

Default value:

2 LU

• Comfort Zone
This key is used to select the spread of the LRA bar's Comfort Zone. Please note that the Comfort Zone will only be visible if this value exceeds the value entered for the LRA low range (see above).

Options:

0 LU to 10 LU in steps of 0.5 LU

Default value:

4 LU
