PPM Menu

This menu is used to configure the PPM instrument. This instrument displays PPM and loudness bargraphs that can be arranged in various ways. Depending on the domain selected for the audio group the instrument belongs to, the parameters of the PPM bargraphs - including the scale to be used - are configured in the "PPM Digital" resp. "PPM True Peak" or "PPM Analog" section. However, the scale used by the loudness bargraphs is set in the "Select Loudness" menu (Edit Current Preset >> Edit Group >> Loudness).

Please note:
This instrument is only available if no Moving Coil instrument exists in the same audio goup. Also, after a PPM instrument was created in a certain audio group, no Moving Coil instrument will be available in that group.

Please note
On TMR7 Smart some sections or options are not available.

Please note:
It is possible to change the input source assignment for each instrument channel. To do this, please use the "Routing" option in the Audio Group menu.

• Bar Style
This key is used to configure the appearance of the PPM and loudness bars. Depending on the Bar Arrangement option selected (see above), up to three bar style options are available. The "Classic" option displays the bargraphs in the typical orange "gas plasma" style found in many peakmeters.

PPM Digital resp. PPM True Peak section

This section is used to configure the PPM bargraph parameters in digital audio groups. After selecting one of the True Peak scales, this section will be renamed to "PPM Truepeak".

• Scale
This key is used to select the scale displayed in the PPM instrument. Depending on the individual scale selected, some instrument parameters may not be available. To display detailed specifications for each scale, please highlight the "Scale" option in the PPM menu followed by "Help".

Please note:
The PPM instrument combines PPM and loudness bargraphs using various selectable bar arrangements. The scale used by the loudness bargraphs is set in the "Select Loudness" menu (Edit Current Preset >> Edit Group >> Loudness).

• Integration Time
This key is used to select the integration time for PPM bargraphs. If you use one of the True Peak scales (TP60 or TP20), this key is not available.

Options:

Sample | 0.1 ms | 1 ms | 10 ms | 20 ms

Default value:

Depending on the selected scale (see help page for "Scale" option)

• Advanced Settings - DC Filter
Selecting the Advanced Settings button will display a new menu page where the DC Filter parameter can be selected. If you use one of the True Peak scales (TP60 or TP20), this key is not available. The key is used to activate a high-pass filter that removes any DC content in the instrument's input signals. Three cutoff frequencies are available.

Options:

off | 5 Hz | 10 Hz | 20 Hz

Default value:

off

• Advanced Settings - Scalemarker
Selecting the Advanced Settings button will display a new menu page where the Scalemarker parameter can be selected. This key is used to activate and position a scale marker.

Options:

off | -30 ... 0 dBFS

Default value:

off

• Colors
This key is used to select the colors for three individual sections of each PPM bargraph as well as their peakhold indicators and the background area. After "On" was selected for the "All track" option, the color settings of the first channel are used for all remaining channel bargraphs of the group.

Background:

Options:

32 colors for each bargraph section

• Active Bars
This key is used to select the channel bargraphs to be displayed in the PPM instrument.

Options:

all active | each individual audio group channel

Default value:

all active

• Peakhold
This key is used to activate the Peakhold function and to set the peakhold time for the PPM bargraphs. In "manual" mode, the peakhold indicators will be displayed permanently until the "Reset" key is used.

Default value:

off

• Headroom / Headroom Reference
This key is only available for certain PPM scales that don't use a fixed headroom setting. It is used to set the lower level threshold for the "Headroom" area of the PPM bargraphs. The value entered here separates the "Operation Range" and "Headroom" areas of the PPM bargraphs. For some scales, the headroom level also defines the level reference of that scale. When selecting one of these scales, the headroom parameter is renamed "Headroom Reference".

Options:

-20 dB to 0 dB in steps of 1 dB

Default value:

-9

• Operation Range
This key is used to define the extend of the "Operation" bargraph area with an individual color selection available. This area is located between the "Normal" and "Headroom" areas. It is defined by a range parameter rather than an absolute scale level because its absolute position depends on the "Headroom" threshold value entered.

Options:

-20 dB to 0 dB in steps of 1 dB

Default value:

0 dB

• Over Sensitivity
This key is used to set the threshold for the "Over" range in dBTP for the TP value with an individual color selection. The value set here devides the over range from the headroom range.
Please note:
The settings in this option relate to all instruments of this audio group. If options will be changed in one of the instruments, these changes will also be adjusted to all other instruments of the group providing this option.

Options:

-4 dBTP to 0 dBTP in steps of 0.1 dBTP

Default value:

-1.0 dBTP
