In display mode, the TouchMonitor shows the instruments and their layout defined in the currently loaded preset.
Touching the screen area of an instrument will put this instrument into focus. This is recognized by a colored frame instead of a grey one. The frame color conforms to the identifier set for the group the focused instrument belongs to.
The Control Bar positioned at the lower screen edge contains several keys. It is displayed permanently if the "Control Bar" option in the "General" section of the "System" menu is set to "permanent". Otherwise, it will be displayed temporarily after touching the screen.
The Control Bar has two sections. The left (upper) section shows the specific keys defined for the focused instrument. This makes it very fast to access a specific function of one of the instruments on screen – just touch the instrument and select the desired function.
The Program Meter provides vertical or horizontal bargraph displays for the individual channels of the active signal source. The signal level, the loudness or a combination of both are displayed for each channel. Using the Program Meter, please ensure that the levels and loudness values of the individual channels correspond to the requirements defined for the audio program measured.
The signal levels for each channel, displayed in yellow in the factory presets, can be presented in two distinct modes, depending on the preset configuration used. The traditional mode is the Peakmeter (PPM), using one of the common scales such as DIN, British or Nordic. Alternatively, the single channel signal levels can be displayed using the newly developed True Peak scale conforming to the most recent standards. True Peak measurements have been introduced to make sure that high-level audio signals cannot produce unwanted artifacts even when processing them in a codec for data reduction, in a sample rate converter or a D/A converter. For codec processing, the EBU R128 recommends a maximum level of –3 dBTP. For all other applications, it recommends a maximum level of –1 dBTP.
The loudness bargraphs, displayed in cyan in the factory presets, show the momentary loudness values for each channel using an integration time of 400 ms.
With the PPM instrument in focus, the left (upper) section of the Control Bar may contain any or all of the keys described below.
The right (lower) section of the Control Bar always contains the following four keys:
