RTW – Eyes on Your Audio: RTW - Immersive Sound Analyzer

The face of the license is the ISA - Immersive Sound Analyzer. It combines the features of two Surround Sound Analyzers and visualizes the relationship between the instruments. So all relevant technical and subjective parameters of formats like 5.1.2, 5.1.4, 7.1.2 or 7.1.4 evaluated in a fast and intuitive way. ISA also allows overall loudness measurement across audio groups.

Main components of these formats are the two layers called Main Bed and Upper Bed. The Main Bed includes the 5.1 or 7.1 part of the surround format, the Upper Bed the 2.0 or 4.0 part. On the ISA, the beds are represented by overlaying displays each similar to a Surround Sound Analyzer. A variable moving point gives response about the loudness relationship between the beds resp. the position and height of the dominant signal and the subjective perceived spatial focal point.

Additonally, the overall Loudness across the layers can be measured and displayed.

The display of the Immersive-Sound-Analyzer supports 5.1.2, 5.1.4, 7.1.2 or 7.1.4 formats, exists of two layers (beds) and is based on the functionality of the Surround Sound Analyzer. The display refers to the loudness like ITU BS.1770 (k) or other weighting filters. It equates to the listening sound pressure level, when the units and the studio monitoring system are properly calibrated. The axes of the 45° rotated coordinate system use dB SPL, LKFS, LU, or LUFS scales, with a reference mark that is also shown in the loudness and SPL displays in the Program Meter.

The cyan-colored lines, whose ends move on the axes and form a rectangle depending on the level in the individual channels, represent the total volume of the Main Bed (middle layer) of the immersive format, the orange-colored lines the total volume of the Upper Bed (upper layer).

An important element is the Immersive Dominance Indicator, which as a white dot represents the relationship between the two levels and shows the position and height of the entire signal. If the dot is larger and closer to the orange X (Dominance Indicator of the Upper Bed), the subjectively perceived spatial focal point is more in the Upper Bed. If the dot is smaller and closer to the cyan + (Dominance Indicator of the Main Bed), the focal point is more in the Main Bed.
