Instruments and Menus | Overview

This overview contains all descriptions about instruments and menus being available as context sensitive help texts on a fully equipped unit. The order of descriptions approximately follows the order of the quick start guide. Depending on the activated licences on your unit, the number of available instruments and menus may differ.

• Main Menu  
The Main Menu is the starting point for the administration of the unit and for the creation and management of presets and its displays.

The Loudness Menus provide the options for the fundamental allocation of Loudness standards to Audio Groups and for the adjustment of loudness parameters.

• Instruments (Functions and Menus)  
The maximum available instruments on a fully equipped TouchMonitor (with analog, digital, SDI or AoIP interfaces and all licences activated) are listed in alphabetic order and marked with the corresponding icon.

- A click to the icon opens an interactive graphical presentation with short descriptions of the main display elements
- A click to Instrument opens the description of the instrument and its functions in normal operation.
- A click to Settings, Keys, and other links opens the descriptions of the instrument-specific menu options.

AES Status monitor is used to display various parameters of AES3 digital audio signals in plain text.

BLITS  (> Specifications)
The BLITS instrument generates EBU-3304, GLITS, and BLITS test sequences and it uses BLITS sequences for a user friendly and comprehensive analysis and display of level, channel allocation, phase, delay and polarity of incoming digital audio signals in 5.1 mode.

Loudness Chart  (> Specifications)
The Loudness Chart instrument is used to display and to analyze the course over time of a loudness measurement directly on the display.

Clock (in Non Audio group)
The Clock instrument is a digital display of date and time. It is set with the > System/Clock menu.

The Stereo Correlator instrument is used to display the phase relationship between the two channels of a stereo signal (mono compatibility).

Global Keyboard (in Non Audio group)
The Global Keyboard provides definable on-screen keys for simultaneous control of defined functions in multiple instruments, and for preset recall. It also allows external control via GP IO interface.

Hardware Status (in Non Audio group)
The Hardware Status instrument is a control display showing the state of the audio hardware (I/O boards, network). Beside the measured sample rate, it displays type and position of the mounted audio interfaces.

ISA  (> Specifications)
The Immersive Sound Analyzer (ISA) visualizes the interaction of all relevant technical and subjective parameters of immersive surround signals across two layers enabling you to see the spatial balance of an immersive surround programme intuitively and at a glance.

Logging  (> Specifications)
The Logging instrument is used to collect data of Loudness and TruePeak measurements and either to store them on a USB memory stick or to send them via IP connection to the LQL - Loudness Quality Logger PC software for analyzing (PC software available for free).

Loudness Numeric  (> Specifications)
The Loudness Numeric instrument (Loud. Num.) is used for the numerical display of the summed Loudness values M, S, or I, the Loudness Range LRA, the maximum values TPmax, Mmax, Smax, and the Integrated test time Itime of a Loudness measurement acc. to EBU R128, ITU BS.1770-4/1771-1, ARIB, ATSC A/85, OP-59, AGCOM, CALM Act, LEQ(M), TASA, SAWA, or specified by customer.

Loud. Recal.  (> Specifications)
The Loudness Recalculation instrument (Loud. Recal.) is used to choose a timecode-controlled loudness measurement.

The Loudness Range instrument (LRA) with MagicLRA mode is used to display a graphical representation of Loudness variances.

The Moving Coil instrument provides needle instruments for 2-channel stereo signals with PPM display (British), VU display, Loudness display, and combined PPM and Loudness display (BBC mode).

Multicorrelator  (> Specifications)
The Multifold correlator instrument is used to display the phase relationship between the two channels of all available channel pairs of a surround signal in a loudspeaker setup.

The Program Meter instrument (PPM) provides bargraph and numerical displays of PPM or TruePeak measurements with a comprehensive set of analog and digital scales.

The Real Time Analyzer instrument (RTA) is used to display the spectral content of the selected input channel(s) using 31, 61 or 120 filter bands.

The SDI Interface instrument is a control display showing the state of the 3G-SDI deembedder interface. It displays the state of the audio streams included in the SDI signal (validity, frequence, format).

The SPL Sum instrument is used to display the summed SPL level of all channels used in an audio group.

The Surround Sound Analyzer (SSA) visualizes the dynamic behaviour of all display elements enabling you to see the balance of a surround programme intuitively and at a glance.

Timecode Reader  (> Specifications)
The Timecode Reader instrument is used to decode and to display an SDI-embedded or LTC timecode for the use with Loudness and Logging applications.

Vectorscope  (> Specifications)
The Audio Vectorscope is used to display the phase relationship between the two channels of a channel pair (Lissajous display).
